Information for Pension Plan Members

Registration of Plans
The PBSA has required all British Columbia employment pension plans to be registered with the Superintendent of Pensions since 1994.

There are approximately 800 employment pension plans registered in British Columbia , including public sector plans.

If your pension plan has more members in another province than it does in British Columbia, the plan may be registered in that other province. You are still protected by the PBSA, even though the other province supervises the plan.

All pension plans must be registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, and meet the requirements for continued registration under the Income Tax Act (Canada).
