Mortgage Brokers

Overview

The Registrar is responsible for registering entities and individuals as mortgage brokers and submortgage brokers under the Mortgage Brokers Act.

All persons who engage in mortgage brokering, mortgage lending, mortgage trading or mortgage administration in British Columbia, must be registered unless they are exempt.

To register as a Mortgage Broker or Submortgage Broker an information package including forms can be found on our forms page. Applicants must meet suitability and education requirements.

Instances of potential unregistered activity can be reported to the Registrar's office at MortgageBrokers@ficombc.ca

The Registrar also investigates complaints and imposes disciplinary sanctions under the Act.

Nationally, FICOM is a member of The Mortgage Broker Regulators’ Council of Canada (MBRCC), an association of mortgage broker regulators from across Canada.



Mortgage Broker Electronic Filing System

The MB E-Filing system is accessible only to Designated Individuals of mortgage brokers registered in British Columbia. MB E-Filing enables mortgage brokers to file applications for mortgage broker and submortgage broker registration renewals and information amendments, submortgage broker new registrations, transfers and registration terminations
